Serial Number Screen

The invoice number from the vendor from whom this item was purchased.

You may optionally store any additional notes.

The invoice number where the item was sold.

The ID of the customer who bought the item.

The date when the item was sold.

Whether or not the item has been sold, is being used internally, has been returned to the vendor, etc.

You may optionally store information in any or all of the 4 user-defined fields. To set the names of these fields, from the serial number screen, press [Shift]+[F4].

You may optionally store the model number.

You may optionally store the manufacturer.

The date you received the item.

Your cost for the item. This information will be used if you ever have to return this item to the vendor.

The purchase order number that this item was purchased on.

The part number of the vendor from whom this item was purchased.

The ID of the vendor from whom this item was purchased.

The unique serial number for this item.

The product ID of the item this serial number belongs to.

Closes the screen you are on.

Unflags a record previously marked for deletion. (The button is only active on a record currently marked for deletion.)

Flags the current record for deletion.

Saves a newly added or edited record. (The button is only active when you are adding or editing records.) You can also press [PgDn] to save any record.

Edit the record on screen.

Calls up a grid view.

Calls up a search box used to locate records.

Takes you to the next record.

Takes you to the previous record.

If you have setup an item to track serial numbers (see Adding Inventory), you will automatically be prompted to enter them onto an invoice whenever an item is sold. Serial numbers may be entered in advance (when you are receiving) or they may be typed or scanned in at the point of sale.

If you track serial numbers from the time they are received until they are sold you can maintain a great deal of detail on the item such as the date you received it, your PO number, the vendor you bought it from and their invoice number, the price you paid for it, the date you sold it, who it was sold to, the invoice number it was sold on, etc. Tracking serial numbers in this manner can greatly assist you with tracking and managing any warranty service and/or returns.
